Rainbow Children's Medicare (Rainbow Hospitals) is entering Mumbai with a 100-bed hospital in Malad, betting on a gap in the country's financial capital where few dedicated children's hospitals offer the full spectrum of pediatric and women-care specialties under one roof.
Apart from Narayana Health-managed SRCC Children's Hospital in Mahalaxmi, Mumbai has limited large-format, standalone pediatric-focused hospital networks, making Rainbow's western India foray a key growth lever for the company.
The Hyderabad-based company said it has signed definitive agreements for the brownfield facility, which is expected to begin operations in the first quarter of FY28, marking Rainbow's entry into Maharashtra as part of its hub-and-spoke expansion strategy. The Mumbai hospital will add about 100 beds, with Pune slated as the group's next major project in the state.

Rainbow said its newer hospitals continued to scale up ahead of expectations, helping sustain growth momentum.
